Participation
Participants confirm that they are physically fit and able to take part in the Brisbane International Contemporary Dance Prix (BICD Prix), and accept responsibility for their own health and wellbeing. Participants should not have any pre-existing injury or medical condition that would limit their ability to safely and fully engage in the program.
Participants acknowledge that the BICD Prix is a physically demanding event and, while every effort is made to maintain safe dance practices within a supportive and well-managed environment, there is an inherent risk of injury.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the organisers accept no responsibility for any injury, illness, loss, or theft incurred during the event. Participants attend and participate at their own risk.
Participants who sustain an injury or develop a health condition after registration, which may affect their ability to participate, are required to notify the BICD Prix team as soon as possible.
All travel to and from Brisbane, along with accommodation and living expenses, are the responsibility of the participant.
A detailed schedule will be provided no later than the first day of the event. Due to studio capacity and to support a focused learning environment, classes and workshops are not open to observers. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend the final performances, with tickets available via the website.
For the safety and wellbeing of all participants, parents and teachers are not permitted backstage at the theatre at any time during the event.
Clothing
Clothing for workshops is to be leotard, tights and flats for ballet class and fitted clothing for contemporary class and workshops. Tracksuits pants and tops can be worn, however if asked, dancers must be able to remove loose clothing and work in close fitting apparel. Please bring ballet flats (flesh is worn for performance) and flesh and black socks options to work and perform in. Candidates are required to wear fitted black shorts along with supplied black singlets for the improvisation solo and to bring a costume that is representative of the repertoire solo they will be performing. These costume details will be provided when solo links are provided.
Coaching
We reserve the right to amend the faculty roster in the event of illness or any other unavoidable cause. No coaching by private teachers is allowed on site at either studios or theatres.
